The news lately has been a bit scary - from the bombing in Manchester to the one in Afghanistan, to unions and laws changing, it may look pretty hopeless right now. 

But this gives us the unique opportunity to add value and do something positive. We get to be helpers. Especially in medicine, we are in a unique position to help (sometimes literally, other times through education, volunteering, and outreach).  

I've started a practice that I've shared with a few friends. 5forFive: focusing on 5 goals, things, or plans that you will carry out.

5 habits you want to build.

5 take home points you want your interviewer to have at the end.

Whatever the topic or issue, 5forFive is about reflection, support, and growth. And it's meant for sharing: sharing your process and walk with others is one of the most important pieces to growth. You never know who you might meet, network with, or impact along the way.
