5 Things to do before traveling anywhere
1. Check the weather 1 week prior
This allows you to pack the right clothes and shoes, as well as plan the right activities! My favorite thing to do to avoid overpacking is to assign one outfit per day (while also mixing and matching), so that outfits are a no-brainer once you're on vacay.
2. Pick a theme
Lounging and relaxing by the beach versus adventuring and exploring? Or a little bit of both? Deciding your intentions for the trip will not only help ease some anxiety, but mentally prepare you and allow you to get excited for it.
3. Leave room for hassle
Things don't always go smoothly, so have a general plan but don't jam pack your days. Leave wiggle room for airport transitions especially - whether that's getting your luggage, finding transportation to your Airbnb, or local transport to the city - it always takes longer than you want it to.
4. Go ahead and post on social media
While traveling, I was able to meet up with so many friends/long lost friends because they saw that I happened to be in the same city. It's fine to show your adventures without going overboard.
5. Pick 1 thing out of your comfort zone
Ziplining, skydiving, learning to cook the native food, whatever puts you in a newbie spot - you'll not only walk away from the vacation well rested but also take something meaningful from it as well.
